Balki receives news that his father is coming to visit him from Mypos. Although he is ecstatic at the thought of seeing his father, he is also nervous about how he will be received by the rest of his family. Larry encourages Balki to be himself and not worry about what others think, reminding him of his favorite childhood story, "The Ugly Duckling". Meanwhile, Larry is trying to secure a promotion at work and is stressing over a meeting with his boss. As Balki's father arrives, the cultural differences between him and the Americans quickly become apparent, with Balki's father struggling to understand the customs and languages of this new world. Despite this, he manages to bond with their neighbor Harriette and shows a keen interest in her family history. As the visit continues, Balki's father reveals a shocking secret that threatens to derail the entire visit and put a strain on Balki's relationship with Larry. As the two friends navigate this new obstacle, they learn valuable lessons about the importance of family and communication.
