Balki receives a letter from his father, who has sent him an inheritance of $10,000. While Balki is elated at this news, Larry is skeptical. After all, Balki's father is known for his ability to leave people with egg on their faces. Larry's skepticism grows stronger when Balki's father arrives on the scene, and starts spending the night on the couch at the apartment.
To make matters worse, Balki's father starts to meddle in the lives of the other residents of the building. He offers advice to Larry about his dating life, and starts to butt heads with Harriette, who is looking after the building while the owner is away on vacation.
