Larry and Balki are on a mission to find the perfect engagement ring for Jennifer after Larry finally decides to propose. However, their shopping trip proves to be more difficult than they anticipated when they realize they know very little about diamonds and jewelry.
After visiting several stores with no luck, the cousins stumble upon a high-end jewelry store with a knowledgeable and helpful saleswoman. However, when Larry realizes that the ring he wants is out of his price range, he convinces Balki to try bargaining with the saleswoman.
While Balki's negotiation skills prove to be successful, the cousins soon realize that they may have made a mistake when the ring turns out to be a fake. Determined to get their money back, Larry and Balki hatch a plan to get the saleswoman to confess to the scam.
Meanwhile, Jennifer grows increasingly frustrated as she waits for Larry's proposal. When she takes matters into her own hands and confronts Larry about his delay, he confesses to the failed shopping trip and promises to make it up to her.
As the episode progresses, Larry and Balki's scheme to get their money back becomes increasingly complex and hilarious, leading to an unexpected resolution. Ultimately, Larry realizes that the perfect ring doesn't matter as much as the love he shares with Jennifer, and he decides to propose with a sentimental family heirloom instead.
Better Shop Around is a heartwarming and comedic episode that highlights the importance of love and commitment over material possessions. Through their trademark shenanigans and mishaps, Larry and Balki lead viewers on an entertaining journey that will leave them laughing, and perhaps even shedding a tear or two.
