Larry and Balki find themselves addicted to a new fitness craze called "The Regimen." They become obsessed with working out and even ask their landlord, Mr. Twinkacetti, to set up a weight room in their basement.

Their dedication to fitness is soon put to the test, however, when a friend invites them over to watch a football game on TV. Larry and Balki reluctantly agree to go but find it difficult to sit still and enjoy the game without doing any exercises.

They come up with a plan to make the most of their time watching TV by incorporating fitness into their viewing habits. They begin doing crunches and push-ups during commercial breaks and invent new exercises based on the plays they see on the screen.

Their commitment to their fitness routine becomes so extreme that they begin to alienate their friends and even miss work. When they are confronted about their behavior, they are forced to confront the fact that they have become "coach potatoes," addicted to fitness in the same way that others can become addicted to TV.

With the help of their friends, Larry and Balki come to realize that moderation is important in all aspects of life, including fitness. They learn to balance their workouts with other interests and find a way to pursue their passion for fitness without letting it consume their lives. In the end, they are able to achieve a healthy balance, both physically and mentally.
