Tim, a former colleague of Mark's, invites him and Jeremy to his country house for the weekend. Mark sees this as an opportunity to network and advance his career, while Jeremy is excited for a weekend of hedonistic debauchery. However, things don't go as planned when they arrive and discover Tim's wife Sophie has unexpectedly died. The weekend takes a somber turn as Tim, grieving and still in shock, tries to come to terms with his loss.

As the weekend progresses, tensions rise between Mark and Jeremy as they cope with the awkwardness of the situation in different ways. Mark tries to put on a dignified front and make polite conversation with Tim, but his true motives come out when he makes a cringe-worthy attempt to pitch himself for a job opportunity. Meanwhile, Jeremy begins to spiral out of control, drinking heavily and flirting with a teenage girl at a local convenience store.

Throughout the episode, Tim's grief and anxiety are palpable, and the awkwardness of the situation is amplified by the fact that Mark and Jeremy barely knew Sophie and have no real connection to her or Tim. As their weekend at the country house draws to a close, the characters are forced to confront their own mortality and the fragility of human life.

Despite the somber subject matter, "Episode 4" manages to maintain the sharp wit and dark humor that Peep Show is known for. The episode explores the uncomfortable and often taboo topic of death with a sense of honesty and realism, without losing the show's trademark sense of humor. It's a difficult and emotional episode, but one that is ultimately rewarding for fans of the series.
