Jeremy is feeling the pinch in Peep Show season 5 episode 3, titled "Jeremy's Broke." Having spent the last of his money on partying and an attempted music career that has yet to take off, he finds himself in a tight spot financially. Mark, his long-suffering flatmate, sees an opportunity to finally get Jeremy to contribute to the household expenses, and starts pushing for him to get a job.
Jeremy, however, is not interested in just any job. He has dreams of becoming a professional artist and spends his days sketching and playing guitar. Mark tries to convince him to take a more practical approach and apply for a job at a nearby supermarket, but Jeremy is not convinced. Instead, he decides to try his hand at busking, hoping to make some quick cash playing on the street.
Meanwhile, Mark has problems of his own when he gets involved in a messy office romance. He starts dating a woman from work who seems perfect for him, but things quickly go sour when his jealous ex-girlfriend comes back into the picture. Mark finds himself caught in the middle of a love triangle, with disastrous consequences.
As Jeremy's financial situation becomes more dire, he starts to make some questionable decisions. He gets involved with a group of con artists who promise to help him make some easy money, but things don't go according to plan. Mark, who has taken it upon himself to be Jeremy's guardian, tries to intervene, but it might be too late.
In "Jeremy's Broke," we see the two flatmates struggling to keep their lives together in the face of mounting pressures. Their contrasting personalities are on full display as they navigate their individual problems, with Mark trying to be the responsible one and Jeremy stubbornly clinging to his dreams of artistic success. It's a hilarious and poignant look at two very different people trying to make it in the world, and the bonds that hold them together even when things get tough.
