He tries to impress Sophie by talking about books and literature, but he comes across as pretentious and annoying. Meanwhile, Jeremy becomes increasingly frustrated with the cabinet, and he starts to doubt his own DIY skills. He tries to fix a mistake he made, but he only makes it worse. Eventually, he gives up and leaves the unfinished cabinet in Toni's living room.

Back at Mark's flat, things go from bad to worse. Mark accidentally spills boiling water on Sophie and Jeff, and he has to take them to the hospital. While they are waiting in the emergency room, Mark realizes that he has been a fool for trying to win back Sophie. He sees that she is happy with Jeff, and he finally accepts that their relationship is over.

As the episode ends, Mark and Jeremy are back in their flat, reflecting on their failed attempts at love. Jeremy admits that he is not good at DIY, and Mark acknowledges that he has been foolish for holding onto his past relationship. They decide to comfort each other by getting drunk and watching an action movie. They both seem content in their own way, and the episode ends on a bittersweet note.
