Mark and Jeremy are back in season two of Peep Show, and this time they are in the midst of some new adventures. In "Local Zero," the second episode of the season, the duo embarks on yet another escapade that is sure to have audiences laughing and cringing in equal measure.

The episode opens with Mark and Jeremy in dire straits. They are broke, and their bank account is overdrawn. In an effort to drum up some cash, they decide to take on some odd jobs in the neighborhood. Their first task is to distribute flyers for an upcoming music festival, but when they realize how challenging the job is, they quickly get discouraged.

As the day wears on, Mark and Jeremy run into a series of increasingly bizarre characters. They meet a group of street performers who ask them to collect money from a group of passersby, only to scam them out of the cash. They also encounter an eccentric entrepreneur named Kenneth who is obsessed with building a "community," but who seems to be more interested in his own grandiose vision than in actually helping people.

Throughout all of this, Mark and Jeremy struggle to keep their heads above water. Mark is preoccupied with his crush on Sophie, his co-worker at the bank, and is desperate to impress her. He thinks that buying her a fancy present will win her over, but is thwarted by his lack of funds. Meanwhile, Jeremy is grappling with his own romantic woes. He is dating a woman named Toni, but is not sure if he is really into her.

As the day wears on, things go from bad to worse for Mark and Jeremy. They end up getting kicked out of the street performers' group, and are humiliated by Kenneth's antics. However, just when things seem hopeless, they stumble onto a new opportunity. They meet a man who is looking for help distributing flyers for his record label, and offer to take on the job in exchange for a commission.

With renewed energy, Mark and Jeremy set out to promote the record label's new band, "Local Zero." They are thrilled with the prospect of making some real money, and are determined to do whatever it takes to succeed. However, as they soon discover, promoting a band is not as easy as it seems.

Despite their best efforts, Mark and Jeremy struggle to get people interested in the new band. They find themselves playing the same songs over and over again, and getting no response. Their frustration mounts as the day progresses, and they begin to bicker and argue with each other.

Finally, in a moment of desperation, Mark decides to take matters into his own hands. He hatches a plan to stage a fake argument with Jeremy, in order to draw attention to the band. The plan works perfectly, and the duo becomes an overnight sensation. "Local Zero" is suddenly the hottest new band in town, and Mark and Jeremy are the toast of the music scene.

However, as they bask in their newfound success, Mark and Jeremy begin to realize that they have lost sight of what really matters. They have become so focused on making money and gaining fame that they have forgotten about the things that truly make them happy. With this realization, the episode comes to a close, leaving audiences laughing and contemplating the value of true happiness in a world obsessed with success.

"Local Zero" is a standout episode of Peep Show season two, offering a hilarious and insightful commentary on the pitfalls of chasing success at any cost. As always, the chemistry between David Mitchell and Robert Webb is impeccable, and the writing is sharp and clever throughout. Whether you are a die-hard fan of the show or just looking for a good laugh, this episode is not to be missed.
