Ep 6. The Silent Treatment / Picture Perfect
- April 4, 1998
The episode begins with PB&J and their friends gathering together to take a photo for Jelly's family, who live far away and can't visit often. However, Flick, who's taken the camera, is more interested in messing around and taking silly pictures than taking the one that Jelly's mom asked for.
Jelly gets upset and decides to give Flick the silent treatment. However, it quickly becomes clear that Flick doesn't understand why she's so upset, and this leads to a miscommunication where he thinks that she's giving him the silent treatment because she wants him to give her a hug. Meanwhile, Jelly is hurt that Flick doesn't seem to care about doing something nice for her family, and this leads to tension between the two of them.
As the day goes on, everyone tries to help Flick and Jelly make up. Opal and Ernest lend a helping hand by taking on some of the tasks that Flick and Jelly would usually do together, while PB&J try to get them to talk through what's going on. However, it isn't until Jelly's mom calls and PB&J realize that they never took the photo that she asked for that Flick and Jelly really start to work things out.
In the end, they finally take the picture that Jelly's mom wanted, with everyone standing together and smiling, and Flick and Jelly apologize to each other for their miscommunication. They both realize that they were being silly and that they care about each other very much, and everything returns to normal.
Overall, this episode deals with some very relatable themes of miscommunication and hurt feelings between friends. It shows how small misunderstandings can quickly spiral out of control if they aren't addressed, but also how easy it can be to make things right once you realize where the problem is coming from. With its gentle humor and positive message, this is another fantastic installment in the PB&J Otter series that's sure to delight viewers of all ages.
