In the episode titled "The Offer," the seventh season of the hit reality TV show Pawn Stars, the team at Gold & Silver Pawn Shop are ready to offer their expert opinions and price evaluations on pieces brought to them by their varied clientele. The team is composed of patriarch Richard "Old Man" Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, grandson Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison, and their friend and employee Chumlee Russell. In every episode of the show, the team members are given interesting and unique items, rare collectibles, and even historical artifacts from sellers all over the United States.
The episode opens with the team getting a visit from a woman with a unique and rare book. She claims to have a book that was presented by Ulysses S. Grant to his friend. The book has a unique inscription and is said to be signed by Grant himself. Before the team can evaluate the book, the seller is asked to produce the certificate of authentication which she is able to provide. The team then examines the book, inspects its various pages and notes, and evaluates the language used within it, trying to identify any red flags. They also take into account the rarity of the book itself and assess its value, and decide whether or not to make an offer. In this episode, the team is thoroughly impressed with the book and are ready to make an offer.
Next, a seller enters the shop with a sports memorabilia, a basketball belonging to the legendary player Kobe Bryant. The ball is said to have been used in a particular playoff game, and the shop owner wants Rick to give him a fair price. Rick has to do his own research to find out the authenticity of the ball and if it's worth the seller's demands. He investigates the certificate of authenticity and all other relevant factors. After doing his due diligence, Rick is able to determine the ball's true value and offer a deal accordingly.
Later, another seller brings in an antique violin that was passed down through generations in her family. She wants to sell the violin to pay for her daughter's tuition fee. The violin is old and worn, but the seller claims that it still works great, has a great sound and in high demand. Rick has to research its era, provenance, material, and craftsmanship to assess its true value accurately. Rick ends up evaluating the violin and determines that its value lies in its antique nature and decides to make an appropriate offer for it.
In the closing scenes, the team gets a visit from a seller with a mystery box of revolutionary war items. He shows them a black powder horn and other related revolutionary war collectibles, seeking the team's expert opinion on their historical value and rarity. Rick, Chumlee, Corey, and Old Man Harrison work their way through the antique artifacts, assessing their authenticity, age, and rarity before making an offer.
Throughout the episode, the Pawn Star team is shown employing their expertise in assessing the value of various items and considering their historical and sentimental value. Viewers are treated to the expertise of each of the team's members as they share their insights and knowledge of rare and unique items. The excitement of the negotiation process and the surprise of each new item makes for an engaging and entertaining program that is sure to satisfy both fans of the show and those new to it.
