Press One for Chum is the first episode of the tenth season of the wildly popular reality show, Pawn Stars. The show revolves around the daily operations of the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop located in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show features Richard "The Old Man" Harrison, his son Rick Harrison, grandson Corey Harrison (known as Big Hoss), and Austin "Chumlee" Russell.
In this episode, we are introduced to a wide array of unique and intriguing items brought into the shop by customers looking for a good deal. One of the first items we see being examined is an authentic Walter Payton Chicago Bears jersey. The seller claims to have purchased the jersey from an auction and is looking to make a decent profit from the sale. Rick expresses his interest and offers to buy the jersey for the shop, but not before consulting with his expert on sports memorabilia.
Next up, a customer brings in an antique combination safe, looking for a quick sale. The safe has a unique feature in that it can be opened by pressing a series of buttons rather than using a traditional key. Chumlee takes a liking to the safe and even goes so far as to try and work out the combination on his own. Rick, however, is hesitant to make an offer and decides to call in an expert to assess the value.
Another item brought in for sale is a 1934 $500 bill. The seller claims that the note had been in their family for generations and was passed down as an inheritance. The rarity of the bill piques Rick's interest, and he decides to call in his trusted expert to determine the value.
One of the most interesting items brought in for sale is an antique "Love Tester" machine. This machine was created in the 1920s and was commonly found in bars and nightclubs. Patrons would put a penny into the machine, grab onto two metal handles, and wait for their "love score" to be displayed. Chumlee is immediately drawn to the machine and sees the potential for a great addition to the shop's collection.
Another notable item being examined in this episode is a 1930s slot machine. The customer is looking to sell the machine but is hoping for a high price due to its pristine condition. Rick immediately recognizes the value in the machine and, with the help of an expert, determines the best offer for the seller.
Throughout the episode, we also see snippets of the daily life at the pawn shop. We witness the banter and friendly teasing between the staff members as they work through the day's business. We also see how the staff interacts with their customers, making jokes and building relationships beyond just a simple transaction.
Overall, Press One for Chum is a fascinating episode that showcases the range of unique items brought into the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on a daily basis. The mix of historical artifacts, sports memorabilia, and everyday objects makes for an intriguing and entertaining viewing experience. The show's cast of characters adds to the charm of the series, making it a fan-favorite since its inception.
