Ep 8. In Search of La Mixteca

In this episode of Pati's Mexican Table, titled "In Search of La Mixteca," Pati travels to the Mixteca region of Mexico in search of new ingredients and dishes to add to her recipe repertoire. La Mixteca is known for its rugged landscape and traditional way of life, and Pati is excited to explore the area and learn more about the indigenous cultures that call it home.

Pati is impressed by the farmers' dedication to preserving these ancient crops and the traditional farming methods that have been passed down through generations.
Back in the kitchen, Pati gets to work on creating new dishes inspired by the flavors and ingredients of La Mixteca. She combines corn, beans, and squash to make a hearty and nutritious soup, adding in some locally-grown herbs and spices to give it an authentic flavor. She also experiments with some of the chiles she picked up at the market, making a spicy salsa to pair with some grilled chicken.
Throughout the episode, Pati reflects on the importance of preserving traditional foodways and the importance of supporting local farmers and producers. She makes a point to seek out ingredients that are grown sustainably and to educate her audience about the many benefits of eating local and supporting small-scale agriculture.
