Passionate Love is a South Korean television drama series that aired on SBS from September 2013 to March 2014. It tells the story of a family that is torn apart by conflicts, loyalty, and love. The series follows the Choi family, who has been running a traditional Korean restaurant for generations. The patriarch, Choi Dal-in (Jeon Gwang-ryeol), has always been strict, harsh, and inflexible in raising his family. He has two sons, Choi Kang-hee (Sung Hoon) and Choi Dal-ho (Lee Won-geun), and two daughters, Choi Moon-hee (Choi Yoon-young) and Choi Dal-ja (Lee Hye-in).
Kang-hee, the eldest son, is the pride and hope of the family. He has always been the perfect child, excelling in everything he does. He is handsome, intelligent, and ambitious, and he dreams of becoming a successful businessman. However, his relationship with his father is strained, as he feels he is not valued and loved as much as he deserves.
Dal-ho, on the other hand, is the complete opposite of Kang-hee. He is carefree, reckless, and irresponsible, and constantly causes trouble for his family. He has no ambition or direction in life, and relies on Kang-hee to bail him out of his problems. However, he has a kind heart and a soft spot for his family, and often helps them in unexpected ways.
Moon-hee is the eldest daughter, and the most sensible and responsible member of the family. She has always been the mediator between her father and her siblings, and tries to keep the peace whenever conflicts arise. She is also secretly in love with her childhood friend, Hong-joo (Shim Ji-ho), who happens to be Kang-hee's girlfriend.
Dal-ja, the youngest daughter, is a rebellious and stubborn teenager who resents her father's traditional ways. She dreams of becoming a K-pop star, and constantly clashes with her father over her ambitions. She finds solace in her grandfather, Kwon Hyuk-soo (Joo Hyun), who encourages her to follow her dreams.
The family's life takes a turn for the worse when Kang-hee's business partner, Jang Min-gu (Oh Dae-gyu), betrays him and causes him to lose everything. Kang-hee is devastated, and his relationship with his girlfriend, Yoo-mi (Seo Joo-hyun), also suffers. Meanwhile, Dal-ho discovers a family secret that threatens to destroy their unity.
The series explores themes of family, love, loyalty, and betrayal, and how they shape and define us. It also shows the struggles and sacrifices that each member of the family goes through to keep their bonds strong, and how they overcome their differences and conflicts.
The acting performances in Passionate Love are top-notch, with Sung Hoon and Lee Won-geun giving standout performances as the conflicted brothers. Choi Yoon-young and Lee Hye-in also deliver strong performances as the sisters, while Jeon Gwang-ryeol and Hwang Shin-hye shine as the parents. The supporting cast also performs admirably, with Jeon Mi-seon, Joo Hyun, Yun Mi-ra, Oh Dae-gyu, Seo Joo-hyun, Kang Sin-il, Lee Han-wi, and Jeon Soo-kyung all leaving a lasting impression.
Overall, Passionate Love is a compelling drama series that is well-written, well-directed, and well-acted. It is a must-watch for fans of family dramas, and will leave a lasting impression on anyone who watches it.
