The Offer is the 18th episode of the fifth season of the critically acclaimed show Parenthood. The episode picks up after the previous episode's cliffhanger in which Sarah, played by Lauren Graham, receives a job offer that could change the future of her family.
As Sarah considers the offer, her siblings and parents provide their input on what she should do. Her brother Adam, played by Peter Krause, encourages her to take the job and pursue her dreams while her sister Julia, played by Erika Christensen, urges her to focus on her family's stability. Meanwhile, her mother Camille, played by Bonnie Bedelia, offers to support her no matter what decision she makes.
As Sarah grapples with her decision, her daughter Amber, played by Mae Whitman, has her own secrets to keep. The recent death of her ex-boyfriend has left her feeling lost and alone, and she turns to her cousin Max, played by Max Burkholder, for support. Max is dealing with his own challenges as he prepares for his school's upcoming play and struggles with Asperger's syndrome.
Elsewhere, Drew, played by Miles Heizer, gets a tough lesson in love when his girlfriend Natalie, played by Lyndon Smith, asks him to be exclusive and he realizes he may not be ready for that level of commitment.
As the various storylines play out, the Braverman family must come together to support one another through life's ups and downs. The Offer is a touching and honest portrayal of the difficulties of balancing career ambitions and family obligations while navigating life's unexpected twists and turns.
