Parallels is a science fiction adventure series that debuted on Disney+ in 2022. The show follows a group of teenage friends who find themselves transported to alternate dimensions when a mysterious event occurs at an underground science facility. The main cast of characters includes Nolan, a bright but awkward boy who loves science fiction and fantasy; Beatrix, Nolan's fearless best friend; Theo, Beatrix's athletic and popular brother; Jax, Theo's quick-witted girlfriend; and Mathilda, an intense intellectual and Nolan's secret crush.

Stuck in an alternate dimension, the friends must figure out how to get back home while also dealing with the differences in this reality. Theo has switched places with a more timid version of himself while Jax finds herself dating a total stranger. The friends meet alternate versions of their families and loved ones as they try to adapt to this new world.

However, they soon learn that the shifts between dimensions are destabilizing both universes. With the help of an eccentric scientist they meet along the way, the friends race to find the cause of the inter-dimensional disruptions so they can return to their original timeline before both worlds collapse.

Nolan and Mathilda use their problem-solving abilities to study the science behind the parallel universes, while Theo and Jax rely more on instinct and interpersonal skills. Beatrix tries to keep the group together and focused on their shared mission. Along the way, they encounter hostile alternate versions of themselves and struggle to trust anyone.

Over the course of the season, the friends strengthen their bonds of loyalty and uncover secrets about their origins. Nolan learns more about his father's work at Lyceum Labs and realizes that the experiments done there in the name of progress can also endanger humanity. In the end, the team must make difficult choices to set things right and protect the futures of both worlds.
