Our Cartoon President season 2 episode 5, titled "Mental Fitness" takes a comedic look at President Trump's mental health and the ways in which he tries to maintain it. Against the backdrop of the ongoing investigations into his administration, the episode explores the various ways in which the President tries to maintain his sanity and stay on top of his game.
The episode starts with Trump waking up early in the morning and immediately doing a series of mental exercises to keep his mind sharp. From counting backwards to reciting the alphabet backwards, Trump works hard to keep his brain functioning at its peak. However, when he decides to take a break from his mental exercises, chaos ensues.
In one scene, Trump is shown playing golf with the Russian ambassador while using a toy hammer to hit miniature golf balls. The ambassador notes that Trump seems distracted and suggests that he take a break from his presidential duties. Trump, however, refuses and continues to play, determined to show the world that he is mentally fit for the job.
Later, Trump is shown confiding in Vice President Pence about his mental state, telling him that he's been feeling down lately and is worried that he's losing his edge. Pence, however, reassures Trump that he's doing a great job and that he has the mental fortitude to handle any challenge that comes his way.
Meanwhile, Ivanka struggles to keep up with the demands of the White House, trying to balance her role as a top advisor to the President with her responsibilities as a wife and mother. Ivanka confides in Jared, telling him that she's been feeling stressed lately and is worried about burning out. Jared encourages her to take a mental break and spend some time with their children, ultimately convincing her that it's okay to take care of herself.
As the episode progresses, Trump's mental state continues to deteriorate, culminating in a bizarre outburst during a press conference. Trump becomes irrationally angry with a reporter who asks him a question about the ongoing investigations into his administration, shouting and banging his fists on the podium. The scene is played for laughs, but it also highlights the very real concerns around the President's mental fitness and erratic behavior.
Overall, "Mental Fitness" is a timely episode that pokes fun at the current political climate while also raising important questions about the mental and emotional wellbeing of those in positions of power. With its blend of satire and social commentary, the show continues to be a must-watch for anyone interested in politics and pop culture.
