Other Space is a science fiction comedy series that premiered on Yahoo! Screen in 2015. The show is created by Paul Feig, who is best known for directing the film Bridesmaids, and was produced by the online streaming service along with Feigco Entertainment. The show follows a group of misfit space explorers who are sent on a routine mission to explore a distant galaxy. The crew comprises of Captain Stewart Lipinski (Karan Soni) who is in charge of the ship; his sister Karen Lipinski (Bess Rous) who is the second-in-command and also his ex-girlfriend; Michael Newman (Eugene Cordero) the ship's engineer who is also a snarky slacker; Kent Woolworth (Neil Casey) the neurotic and insecure science officer; Zalian Fletcher (Joel Hodgson) the ship's robot who is close to developing a soul; and Natasha (Conor Leslie) the new navigator who has a secret.

The show takes place in 2105 and the technology of the time includes faster-than-light travel, artificial intelligence, and teleportation. The ship they are on, the UMP Cruiser, is a state-of-the-art vessel that is designed to withstand dangerous missions. However, due to the incompetence of the crew, the ship is constantly in danger and they often find themselves in bizarre situations that they are ill-prepared for.

The characters in the show are all unique and have their own quirks, making for a diverse and interesting cast. The standout character is Zalian Fletcher, who is played by Joel Hodgson, who is best known for creating and starring in the cult classic TV show Mystery Science Theater 3000. Zalian is a robot who has a personality that is formed by the various TV shows and films that he has watched, resulting in him having a sardonic wit and a vast amount of pop culture knowledge.

Another highlight of the show is the chemistry between the cast members. The interactions between the characters are often hilarious and unpredictable, and the show benefits from the actors' comedic timing and delivery. The humor in Other Space is often irreverent and absurd, with references to pop culture and science fiction films peppered throughout the show.

The sets and costumes in the show are also noteworthy, with the ship's interiors and the crew's uniforms feeling appropriately futuristic yet retro at the same time. There is a playful nod to pulp science fiction films of the 1960s, with the show's visual style capturing the kitschy charm of that era.

Overall, Other Space is a fun and entertaining sci-fi comedy that delivers on its promise of laugh-out-loud moments and wacky scenarios. While it only lasted for one season, the show has developed a cult following since its release, with fans appreciating its unique blend of humor and science fiction. If you're a fan of shows like Futurama or Mystery Science Theater 3000, then Other Space is definitely worth checking out.
