Del and Rodney are once again on the look for a quick way to make some cash. Their latest scheme involves breeding greyhounds, and they even have a prospective buyer for their first litter of puppies. However, their plans are thrown off course when their Auntie Rose comes to stay with them after her flat is flooded.
As it turns out, Auntie Rose comes with a bit of baggage - a beloved greyhound named Boycie. Boycie is a champion racer, but at eight years old, he's no longer in his prime. Despite this, Auntie Rose is determined to keep him with her and is devastated when the council tells her she can't keep him in her new flat.
Meanwhile, Del and Rodney's greyhounds are causing havoc in the flat. They're chewing up furniture, and their constant barking is disturbing Auntie Rose's peace. The situation comes to a head when one of the greyhounds eats Boycie's food and nearly chokes to death. Auntie Rose is furious and demands that Del and Rodney take responsibility for their dogs.
To make matters worse, the council comes to inspect the flat, and Del and Rodney are afraid they'll be fined or evicted. They desperately try to hide the evidence of their greyhounds, but their efforts are in vain when Boycie is discovered in the flat. Auntie Rose insists that he's her pet and not part of Del and Rodney's scheme, but the council still demands that he be removed from the flat.
In the end, Del and Rodney come up with a plan to save Boycie. They enter him in a greyhound race and convince the buyer of their puppies to bet on him. The plan works, and Boycie wins the race, earning enough money for Auntie Rose to rent a new flat that will allow her to keep her beloved pet.
As always, Only Fools and Horses delivers a witty and heartwarming episode that showcases the bonds of family and the lengths people will go to for their pets. With delightful performances from the cast and a clever plot that keeps audiences engaged, Sleeping Dog's Lie is a must-watch episode for fans of the series and newcomers alike.
