In season 3 episode 2 of Only Fools and Horses, titled "Healthy Competition," the Trotter brothers, Del and Rodney, find themselves in a bit of a rivalry with their friends Boycie and Marlene. The competition begins when Boycie and Marlene show off their brand new health farm, which they have just completed renovations on. Del and Rodney, never one to be outdone, decide to jump on the health bandwagon themselves and open their very own health farm right next door to Boycie and Marlene's.
The episode opens with Del and Rodney discussing their latest scheme, which involves them buying up a dilapidated old building and turning it into a health farm. They have been inspired to do this by Boycie and Marlene, who have recently opened their own health farm and are raking in the money. Del and Rodney are convinced that they can make a fortune off the residents of Peckham by offering their own health and fitness programs.
After purchasing the building, Del and Rodney get to work on renovating it. They put up signs, hire staff, and even create their own exercise equipment out of scrap metal. However, as they begin to attract customers, they quickly realize that their health farm is no match for Boycie and Marlene's. Boycie's health farm is state-of-the-art, with amenities that Del and Rodney's business just can't compete with. Despite this, Del and Rodney refuse to give up.
As the competition heats up, Boycie and Marlene become increasingly annoyed with Del and Rodney's antics. In one scene, Del and Rodney even sabotage a group of Boycie's customers by dressing up in costumes and sneaking into his health farm to distract them. The competition reaches its climax during a charity event, where both health farms are competing to raise the most money. Del and Rodney pull out all the stops, but in the end, it is Boycie and Marlene who come out on top.
Despite the loss, Del and Rodney remain determined to make their health farm a success. They may not have beaten Boycie and Marlene, but they have learned a valuable lesson about hard work and determination. As the episode comes to a close, the brothers are seen back at their health farm, ready to continue the competition. The audience is left wondering what hilarious scheme the Trotter brothers will come up with next to stay ahead of the game.
