In One Day at a Time season 4 episode 6, titled "Yes, Sir, That's My Baby," we see Penelope struggling to make arrangements for Elena's quinceañera. She asks for Schneider's help, but he inadvertently makes things worse. Meanwhile, Alex is preparing for his chemistry final and asks Lydia for help, but she is too busy with her art exhibit.
Things come to a head when Schneider accidentally reveals that Penelope has been struggling financially, causing Elena to feel guilty about wanting a big celebration. Schneider tries to make things right by offering to pay for the quinceañera himself, but Penelope is hesitant to accept his help.
As the family navigates these challenges, they also deal with Alex's frustration and anxiety over his upcoming exam. Eventually, Lydia realizes the importance of supporting her grandson and puts her art exhibit on hold to help him study.
Throughout the episode, we see the characters confront their fears and insecurities, but also come together to support each other. In typical One Day at a Time fashion, there are plenty of heartwarming moments and comedic relief. "Yes, Sir, That's My Baby" is a standout episode that showcases the show's ability to tackle serious issues with empathy and humor.
