Detective Andy Sipowicz is placed on modified duty after a suspect flees from him during a narcotics bust, and a boxing match attended by several officers may have been fixed in favor of the losing fighter. Meanwhile, Sipowicz's partner, Detective John Kelly, is tasked with investigating the murder of a Chinese-American teenager, and his probe leads him to the dead boy's father, a local businessman with alleged ties to organized crime. Meanwhile, Detective Martinez is offended when some officers make racist remarks about his ethnicity, and Lieutenant Fancy has a crisis of conscience about the department's handling of the boxing scandal. As tensions rise within the precinct, each detective is forced to confront their own biases and allegiances in order to solve the cases at hand.
