The show Numb3rs centers around a talented mathematician named Charlie Eppes and his FBI agent brother, Don Eppes, as they work together to solve crimes using mathematical equations and logic. In season 2 episode 19, entitled "Dark Matter," the brothers are called in to investigate a triple homicide.

The episode opens with a group of scientists working on a top-secret government project at the high-energy physics facility, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory (Fermilab). One of the scientists, Dr. Millie Finch, discovers that her laptop has been stolen and she immediately becomes concerned that the thieves may have stolen confidential information related to the project. Shortly after, three of the scientists who worked on the project are found dead.

The FBI is called in to investigate and Don Eppes leads the team to Fermilab where he meets with Dr. Finch and her colleague, Dr. William Bradford (played by guest star Tom Skerritt). They explain the importance of the project they're working on - a particle accelerator that will allow them to explore the mysteries of dark matter, the invisible substance that makes up the majority of the universe. They are also concerned that the project has been compromised and that their research may fall into the wrong hands.

Back at the FBI office, Charlie assists the team by analyzing data related to the case. He discovers a pattern in the victim's DNA that leads him to believe that they were killed by a professional hitman. He also discovers that one of the victims, Dr. Jacobson, was involved in an affair with Dr. Finch and that Dr. Bradford was aware of the affair.

As the investigation continues, the team uncovers more information about the project and the people involved. They learn that Dr. Finch's laptop contained valuable research data related to the particle accelerator and that it was stolen by an organization called the "Black Hand," a group of international thieves who specialize in stealing high-value scientific and technological equipment. They also discover that Dr. Bradford had a financial interest in the project and may have been involved in the theft of the laptop.

With this new information, the team is able to determine that Dr. Bradford hired the hitman to steal the laptop and kill the scientists in order to cover up his involvement. He had hoped to steal the research data and sell it to the highest bidder. Don and his team go on the hunt for Bradford and the man he hired, eventually tracking them down in a high-speed chase that ends with a dramatic confrontation.

In the end, the team is able to solve the case and bring all of the responsible parties to justice. The episode concludes with the FBI giving Dr. Finch assurances that they'll continue to protect the project and that her research won't fall into the wrong hands again.

Overall, "Dark Matter" is a tense and exciting episode that showcases the unique approach to crime-solving that Numb3rs is known for. With its mix of science and intrigue, it's a great example of what makes this show so compelling.
