In Northern Exposure season 3 episode 4, titled "Animals 'R' Us," the small town of Cicely is buzzing with excitement as the annual Moosefest approaches. The eccentric residents are busy preparing for the festival and the arrival of thousands of tourists.
Dr. Joel Fleischman, the town's resident doctor, is dealing with a variety of patients, including a man who believes he is a dog and a woman who claims to have been attacked by a bear. Joel is skeptical of the latter's story and is convinced that she is simply seeking attention.
Meanwhile, Ed Chigliak, the local filmmaker, is given the opportunity to film a documentary about the town's wildlife. He enlists the help of Marilyn Whirlwind, a native woman who has a deep connection with the animals, to assist him in his project.
Chris Stevens, the town's philosophical radio DJ, is grappling with his own personal crisis as he tries to come to terms with the fact that he is turning 40. His best friend, the local bartender Holling Vincoeur, tries to cheer him up with a wild night out on the town.
As the Moosefest gets underway, the town is filled with excitement and energy. However, as the festival draws to a close, a bear becomes loose in the town and creates chaos. The residents must band together to protect themselves and their beloved town from the wild animal.
