In North Woods Law season 4 episode 7, titled "Outfoxed," viewers are taken on a journey deep into the wilderness of Maine where the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (IFW) officers are tasked with protecting the state's natural resources and wildlife.

The episode begins with a distressed call from a resident in rural Maine who claims that a group of hunters is illegally killing foxes near his property. IFW officer Mike Pierre responds to the call and sets out to investigate the claims. As he makes his way through the woods, he stumbles upon a group of hunters who are indeed in possession of several dead foxes.

Officer Pierre takes control of the situation, confiscating the dead animals and questioning the hunters about their activities. An altercation breaks out, and tensions run high as the hunters maintain their innocence. In the end, Officer Pierre relies on his training and experience to investigate the situation, identify the hunting violations, and issue several citations to the hunters.

Meanwhile, Officer Glen Annis responds to several calls about a nuisance bear that is wreaking havoc in a residential area. The bear has been rummaging through trash cans and causing damage to property, posing a potential danger to residents. Officer Annis sets up a trap in the area and waits patiently for the bear to make an appearance.

After several days, the bear finally sets off the trap, and Officer Annis rushes to the scene to handle the situation. The bear is tranquilized and relocated to a more remote area where it can live out its life in peace.

Back in the woods, Officer Tim Spahr is called to investigate a report of an illegal bird trap. Upon arrival, he discovers a small cage with a live bird inside, which appears to be a protected species. Officer Spahr carefully removes the bird from the trap and examines it for injuries. Fortunately, the bird is healthy and is released back into the wild.

The episode culminates with Officer Josh Bubier encountering a group of fishermen who are fishing in a restricted area. Officer Bubier calmly explains the regulations and why fishing in this area is prohibited. The fishermen quickly comply and move to a legal fishing spot, grateful for the officer's guidance.

With each encounter, the officers of North Woods Law are dedicated to enforcing the regulations that protect Maine's wildlife and natural resources. The episode showcases the team's professionalism, perseverance, and commitment to their mission. As viewers look on, they are reminded of the importance of protecting the natural world and creating a sustainable future for generations to come.
