In Noragami season 2 episode 7, titled "How to Worship a God", we continue to follow the story of Yato, a minor god who wishes to become more powerful and popular. The episode begins with Yato and Yukine going to a shrine to pray for good fortune and success. While there, Yato meets a young girl named Hiyori, whom he saved from a car accident in the previous season. Hiyori is also interested in learning more about the gods, and Yato decides to take her under his wing and teach her how to worship a god.
Yato begins by taking Hiyori to a park where people play volleyball. He explains that one way to worship a god is to offer them something that they enjoy, and in his case, he loves to play. Hiyori is fascinated and asks if there are any other ways to worship a god. Yato then takes her to a convenience store where he explains that he loves to snack on a particular brand of chips. Hiyori tries the chips and loves them as well, and Yato is pleased that he was able to share something with her.
As they continue their journey, Yato and Hiyori encounter a group of phantoms who are causing trouble for the nearby residents. Yato decides to handle the situation, but Hiyori insists on coming with him to learn more about the gods. Together, they successfully defeat the phantoms, and Hiyori gains a deeper appreciation for Yato's power and abilities.
Later, Yato goes to another shrine to offer a prayer to another god named Bishamon. Bishamon is a well-respected god who has many regalias (weapons and spirits that serve a god), and Yato is eager to learn more from her. However, when they arrive, they discover that Bishamon is engaged in a battle with Yato's former regalia, Nora. Yato is torn between his loyalty to Bishamon and his feelings for Nora, who he once loved deeply but who betrayed him and caused him great pain.
As the battle rages on, Yato is forced to intervene and protect Hiyori, who is in danger. He also uses his powers to heal Bishamon's regalia, who were injured in the battle. Bishamon, who was once bitter enemies with Yato, begins to see him in a new light and acknowledges his skills and nobility.
The episode ends with Yato and Hiyori continuing their journey, with Hiyori now having a deeper understanding of the gods and their powers. Yato remains unsure of what he wants and where his loyalties lie, but he is grateful for Hiyori's company and seems more determined than ever to become a popular and powerful god.
Overall, "How to Worship a God" is an exciting and action-packed episode that explores the complexities of the god-world and the relationships between gods and humans. Yato continues to be a fascinating character, with his conflicting desires and emotions driving the story forward. And Hiyori is a wonderful addition to the cast, providing a fresh perspective and a sense of wonder and curiosity that keeps the audience engaged.
