In Noragami season 2 episode 6, titled "What Must Be Done," the aftermath of Bishamon's near-death experience at the hands of Kugaha continues to unfold. The god of combat is left reeling, grappling with a mix of emotions as she struggles to come to terms with what has happened to her. Her fellow gods and Regalia try their best to comfort her, but all of them are well aware that their words can only do so much.
As Bishamon's Regalia seek to track down Kugaha and bring him to justice, Yukine and Hiyori are tasked with helping to care for Yato, who was also injured during the confrontation with Kugaha. Hiyori uses the opportunity to finally ask Yato about his past, something she has been curious about since first meeting the wayward god. Yato's response proves to be both illuminating and heartbreaking, shedding light on the tragic circumstances that led to him becoming a god in the first place.
Meanwhile, Bishamon's hunt for Kugaha leads her to a disturbing discovery: the rogue Regalia has taken control of several of her other subordinates, turning them into his unwitting pawns. The revelation only further fuels her desire for revenge, and she sets out to find Kugaha even as her mental and physical health continue to deteriorate.
As the episode unfolds, each character is forced to reckon with the fallout from the recent attack, in their own way. Bishamon grapples with her own anger and pain, while Yato continues to keep his past buried deep inside. Hiyori, too, is forced to confront the fact that the world of the gods is much more complicated than she ever imagined, as she witnesses the lengths to which some will go to achieve their goals.
Despite the darkness and despair that loom over the characters, however, there are moments of light and hope. The bonds of friendship and loyalty that tie the various gods and Regalia together are put to the test, but ultimately prove strong enough to weather even the most trying of challenges. As the episode comes to a close, there is a sense that despite all the hardships and hardships, there is still a glimmer of hope that things can be made right.
