The show Nisekoi is a romantic comedy anime series which follows the story of Raku, a high school student who is the son of a yakuza boss. Raku is forced to pretend that he is in a fake relationship with a girl named Chitoge, who also happens to be the daughter of a rival gang. The two initially dislike each other but slowly start to develop feelings for one another. As Raku tries to navigate his complicated love life, he also tries to find the girl he made a promise with when he was a child.
In season 1 episode 5, titled "Swimming," the students of Raku's high school are preparing for their annual swimming competition. While everyone is excited, Raku is apprehensive as he is unable to swim. However, he is determined to overcome his fear of water and decides to take swimming lessons from his classmate, Haru.
Haru is initially hesitant to teach Raku, but eventually agrees to help him out. As the two start their lessons, they are interrupted by Chitoge, who also wants to learn how to swim. Haru agrees to teach both Raku and Chitoge at the same time, under the condition that they keep their relationship a secret from everyone else.
As Raku and Chitoge continue their swimming lessons, they start to grow closer to each other. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that they are both in fake relationships with other people. Raku is also still searching for the girl he made a promise with, and is unsure about his feelings for Chitoge.
Meanwhile, the swimming competition draws nearer and Raku and Chitoge are put to the test. They struggle to swim properly and constantly bicker with each other. Despite this, Haru is determined to help them and encourages them to keep trying.
As the day of the competition arrives, Raku and Chitoge are still nervous. However, they are determined to do their best and make Haru proud. In the end, they surprise everyone with their swimming skills and manage to win the race.
The episode ends with Raku and Chitoge sharing a moment of triumph, and Raku reflects on how much he has grown since he began his swimming lessons. The episode showcases the growth and development of Raku and Chitoge's relationship, as well as their individual struggles and determination to overcome them.
