As the second episode of the first season of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, Going the Distance follows the six couples as they continue to navigate long-distance relationships to meet for the first time. The episode begins with Darcey and Jesse, who have already met in person and are now preparing to spend their first night together. Although Darcey comes off as nervous and pushy, Jesse is happy to spend time with her and get to know her better.
Meanwhile, Paul has arrived in Brazil to meet Karine, and things are not going smoothly. Despite his meticulous preparation for the trip, including carrying his own mosquito net and waterproof pants, Paul is struggling to adjust to the local customs and conditions. Karine is also feeling underwhelmed by Paul's initial arrival, and their communication barrier is making it difficult for them to connect.
On the other hand, Abby and Sean's relationship seems to be flourishing. Despite their 21-year age gap and Sean's hesitations about Abby's past, they seem to be genuinely in love with each other. Abby takes Sean to meet her grandmother and is excited to show off her hometown to him. Similarly, Larry is smitten with Jenny, who he met on an Asian dating site. He travels to the Philippines to meet her for the first time and is relieved when she shows up at the airport to pick him up.
However, things are not as rosy for Cortney and Antonio. After their initial FaceTime conversation, Cortney is convinced that they are in love and Antonio is the man for her. However, once she arrives in Spain to meet him, she finds that he is not as responsive as she had hoped and is not giving her the attention she desires.
Lastly, Patrick and Myriam's relationship reaches a crossroads when Patrick calls her out for not disclosing that she has a boyfriend. Myriam is defensive about her situation but admits that she has feelings for Patrick and wants to pursue a relationship with him.
Overall, Going the Distance sets the stage for the season by introducing the couples and their unique challenges. From cultural differences to past baggage, their relationships will be put to the test as they embark on the 90-day visa process leading up to marriage.
