As the holiday season approaches, the employees of the Night Court in New York City are getting into the festive spirit. With decorations adorning the courtroom and secret Santa gifts being exchanged, the mood is jovial until an unexpected visitor arrives.
A homeless man named Harry, played by John Astin, wanders into the courtroom seeking shelter from the cold. Despite Harry's disheveled appearance and questionable past, Judge Harry Stone, played by Harry Anderson, takes pity on him and allows him to spend the night in his chambers.
As the night wears on, Harry begins to tell Judge Stone and the other employees of the court a heartwarming tale of his past and how he ended up homeless on the streets. The story brings everyone together and fosters a sense of empathy and compassion among the group.
Meanwhile, attorney Dan Fielding, played by John Larroquette, is preoccupied with convincing a wealthy client to donate money to a prestigious charity for underprivileged children. As the clock ticks down on Christmas Eve, Dan's attempts to secure the donation become increasingly desperate, leading to a humorous and unexpected twist.
