Harry and the rest of the Night Court gang come face to face with some spooky surprises on Halloween night. As the episode begins, Harry is feeling down because he's just received a letter from his ex-wife Denise, informing him that she's engaged to her new boyfriend. Meanwhile, Dan has a plan to win over Christine, but it involves spending the night in a creepy abandoned house.
When the gang arrives at the courthouse, they're greeted by a mysterious stranger dressed in a black cape and holding a large crystal ball. The stranger introduces himself as Leon Redbone, a psychic who's come to perform a séance in honor of Halloween. Harry is skeptical, but he goes along with it, and soon the group is gathered around a table, holding hands and chanting "Om."
As the séance begins, strange things start to happen. Lights flicker, doors slam shut, and objects move of their own accord. Meanwhile, Dan and Christine are dealing with their own supernatural encounters in the abandoned house. They discover a creepy basement filled with old relics and cobwebs, and they're convinced that they're not alone.
Back at the courthouse, things are getting even more bizarre. A man claiming to be the ghost of a 19th-century lawyer shows up, demanding that Harry find the deed to his old law firm. In addition to that, a young man who is heavily influenced by movies decides to dress up like Freddy Krueger and roam around the office. But that’s not all that is going on, Bull is experiencing some strange occurrences as well, like feeling as if he was bitten by something.
As the night wears on, Harry begins to suspect that Leon Redbone might not be who he claims to be. He starts investigating the stranger's background and discovers that he has a history of pulling off elaborate scams. But when he confronts Leon, the psychic swears that he's not trying to pull a fast one; he genuinely believes that he has supernatural powers.
Meanwhile, Dan and Christine find themselves under attack by real-life monsters: a gang of vandals who are using the abandoned house as their headquarters. They're pursued through the house by the gang, but manage to escape.
Back at the courthouse, the night's events come to a head. Harry discovers the truth about Leon, and the ghostly lawyer finally gets his closure. The gang gather around the office and all share their spooky stories, realizing they had a night filled with tricks and treats. As the gang disperses, Harry reflects on the spooky events that unfolded and realizes that Halloween isn't about ghosts and goblins - it's about facing your fears and finding the courage to move on.
