Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn season 1 episode 20, "Family Matters," follows the Harper quadruplets as they try to impress their parents by making homemade gifts in honor of their anniversary. The episode begins with the quads realizing that their parents' anniversary is just a few days away and they haven't gotten them anything yet. Dawn suggests that they make homemade gifts as a surprise, and the others agree.
The 4 siblings then start brainstorming on what to gift their parents. While discussing, Dawn thinks of redoing her parents' wedding vows and filming it. Nicky decides to create an antique lamp out of a rolling pin that he saw in an antique shop. Dicky plans on knitting a sweater for their hamster, Zipper. Ricky decides to bake a cake from scratch, even though he has never baked before. They all start working on their respective gifts.
While Nicky is testing his lamp, he accidentally breaks the kitchen window. The quads know that their parents will be furious if they find out, so they decide to repair the window by themselves. However, they end up making it even worse and their parents find out after coming home. They ground the quads and cancel their anniversary celebrations. The siblings are devastated, and they must think of a way to make it up to their parents.
The next day, after much brainstorming, Dawn discovers that their parents never got the chance to have a romantic honeymoon due to budget constraints. They decide to recreate their honeymoon by converting their backyard into a Hawaiian-themed paradise. The siblings work tirelessly to decorate the backyard while also trying to keep it a secret from their parents. Their parents walk outside to see what the fuss is all about, and they are surprised and overjoyed by their children's efforts.
The father then finds Zipper wearing the sweater that Dicky knitted and laughs. Finally, they see Nicky's lamp, and while they are initially impressed, it turns out to be a little too antique and blows up, causing a power outage. However, the family manages to have a great time without electricity, enjoying the homemade cakes and the romantic atmosphere.
In the end, the quads learn an important lesson about family and how it is the love and effort that they put into relationships that truly matter. The episode ends on a happy note with the family spending a beautiful night together under the stars.
