Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is a children's television series that teaches Chinese language and culture through relatable stories, music, animation, and role-playing games. The show follows a friendly girl named Kai-Lan who invites preschoolers to join her on adventures exploring Chinese traditions, celebrations, food, and language.
In season 2, episode 11, titled "Lulu's Cloud," Kai-Lan and her friends encounter a curious problem when they plan a picnic on the hilltop. Lulu, an enthusiastic rabbit, wants to bring her cloud to the picnic, but none of her friends have ever seen a cloud that could fit in her pocket. Confused and intrigued by Lulu's request, Kai-Lan and her friends decide to investigate.
As they walk up the hill, they notice that the sky is unusually clear without any clouds. Lulu assures them that her cloud is real and not just an imaginary friend. She shows them a little blue cloud in her hand and explains that her cloud can change colors and shapes to match her mood. Kai-Lan and her friends are impressed and amazed.
Suddenly, a gust of wind blows Lulu's cloud away, and everyone chases after it. They run through the bamboo forest, over the bridge, and into the meadow, but they can't catch it. Lulu is heartbroken and feels like she betrayed her cloud by losing it. Kai-Lan and her friends comfort her and suggest that they make a cloud of their own to make her feel better.
They collect cotton candy, cotton balls, and blue pom-poms and start crafting their cloud. They shape it into a fluffy, round cloud-like sculpture and even add some glitter for sparkle. Lulu is delighted and grateful for their kindness. She hugs her cloud, which magically comes back to her, even bigger and fluffier than before.
The moral of the story is that friendship and imagination can make anything possible, even finding a lost cloud. Kai-Lan and her friends show the importance of empathy, creativity, and perseverance in solving problems and making each other happy.
