Ni Hao Kai-lan is a children's animated show that features a young Chinese-American girl named Kai-lan. She and her animal friends are always learning new things and overcoming challenges, all while incorporating Chinese culture and language into each episode. In season 1 episode 19, titled "Kai-lan Goes to China," Kai-lan takes a special trip to China with her grandfather.

The episode begins with Kai-lan and her grandfather packing their bags for their trip to China. Kai-lan is excited to see the country where her family comes from and to learn more about Chinese culture. Her grandfather tells her that they will visit many different places in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, and the Great Wall.

When they arrive in Beijing, Kai-lan is struck by the city's hustle and bustle. People are everywhere, and everything is very different from what she is used to. She sees bicycles and rickshaws instead of cars, and she hears people speaking Chinese all around her. Kai-lan is a little nervous, but her grandfather reassures her that they will have a great time.

Their first stop is Tiananmen Square, a large public square in the center of Beijing. Kai-lan is fascinated by the massive portrait of Chairman Mao and the many monuments and statues throughout the square. She also learns about the important events that have taken place there, like the student protests in 1989.

Next, Kai-lan and her grandfather visit the Forbidden City, an ancient palace complex that was home to China's emperors for over 500 years. Kai-lan is in awe of the ornate buildings and beautiful gardens. She learns about the different dynasties of China and how each one left its mark on the palace. She even gets to dress up in traditional Chinese clothing and take a picture with her grandfather.

After their visit to the Forbidden City, Kai-lan and her grandfather head to the Great Wall. Kai-lan is excited to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World in person. She learns about the wall's rich history and how it was built to protect China from invading armies. Kai-lan and her grandfather climb a section of the wall and take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and countryside.

In Shanghai, Kai-lan and her grandfather visit the famous Bund waterfront. They take a boat ride on the Huangpu River and see all the different buildings, old and new, on both sides of the river. They also take a trip to Yu Garden, a traditional Chinese garden with beautiful landscaping and intricate architecture.

Throughout their trip, Kai-lan learns more about her family's heritage and the different aspects of Chinese culture. She tries local foods like Peking duck and jiaozi dumplings, and she even gets to practice her Chinese with some of the locals she meets.

At the end of the episode, Kai-lan and her grandfather reflect on their trip and how much they learned from it. Kai-lan is grateful for the experience and says that she wants to come back to China again someday.

"Kai-lan Goes to China" is a fun and educational episode that introduces children to different aspects of Chinese culture and history. With its bright colors, catchy songs, and lovable characters, Ni Hao Kai-lan is a great show for young children who are interested in learning more about the world around them.
