The episode Daydream of NewsRadio season 3 starts off with Dave, the news director, listening to a message left by his ex-girlfriend Lisa on his answering machine. The message is a long, confusing mess that seems to be about her wanting to meet up with Dave. As Dave tries to figure out what the message means, he finds himself daydreaming about a life where he is happily married to Lisa and raising a family with her.
Meanwhile, Lisa arrives at the radio station and tries to talk to Dave, but he is so caught up in his daydream that he doesn't even notice her. Lisa then starts to have her own daydream about a life with Dave where they are both happy and in love.
At the same time, Joe, the electrician, is trying to fix a broken light fixture in the office but keeps getting distracted by his own daydreams. In his daydreams, he is a suave ladies' man who is pursued by the female employees of the station.
Throughout the episode, the characters' daydreams become more and more elaborate, taking over their lives and causing chaos in the station. Jimmy, the station owner, becomes concerned about the employees' productivity and brings in a consultant to help. The consultant suggests that the employees need to take breaks and daydream in order to be more productive, which leads to even more ridiculous daydreams from everyone.
In the end, the characters snap out of their daydreams and realize that they have been wasting time. Dave finally talks to Lisa and learns that she is engaged to be married, which puts an end to his daydreams about her. Joe finishes fixing the light fixture and the station returns to normal.
Overall, Daydream is a fun and quirky episode of NewsRadio that explores the power of daydreams and how they can both inspire and distract us. The characters' daydreams are hilarious and over-the-top, but they also reveal their deepest desires and fears. With its clever writing and great performances from the cast, Daydream is an excellent addition to the series.
