On December 31st, 2017, CNN aired its annual New Year's Eve Live special with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen, attracting millions of viewers from around the world. This year, the show featured a lineup of star-studded guests and performances, including a surprise appearance from legendary comedian Dave Chappelle.

The show kicked off at 8 pm EST, with Cooper and Cohen dressed to impress in their finest suits. Cooper, a seasoned journalist, brought his serious yet engaging demeanor to the show, while Cohen, a talk show host and former Bravo executive, brought an energetic and humorous vibe. The duo hit it off immediately, exchanging light banter about their respective New Year's Eve experiences and their hopes for the coming year.

Throughout the night, Cooper and Cohen kept the energy high with their witty banter and playful teasing of each other. They were joined by a slew of celebrity guests throughout the night, including Oscar-nominated actress Amy Sedaris, CNN correspondent Richard Quest, and pop star Andy Grammer. Additionally, Cooper and Cohen were joined by CNN correspondents across the globe, providing updates on how New Year's Eve was being celebrated around the world.

Musical performances were a big part of the show, with Cooper and Cohen introducing various artists throughout the night. One of the most notable performances came from multiple Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Mariah Carey, who performed her hit song "Hero" just moments before the ball dropped in Times Square. Her performance was met with cheers and applause from the crowd, as well as from Cooper and Cohen.

But perhaps the biggest surprise of the night came when Dave Chappelle made an impromptu appearance. Chappelle, who was in town for a comedy show, joined Cooper and Cohen on stage for a few minutes of unscripted banter. As always, Chappelle had the audience in stitches, providing a much-needed moment of levity on what can be a stressful and emotional night.

As the clock struck midnight, Cooper and Cohen counted down with the crowd, and the iconic New Year's Eve ball dropped. Confetti rained down on the crowd, and fireworks lit up the sky in celebration of the New Year. The energy was electric, and Cooper and Cohen did a fantastic job of capturing the excitement of the moment on camera.

Overall, New Year's Eve Live with Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen was a tremendous success. The chemistry between Cooper and Cohen was undeniable, and they kept the show engaging and entertaining from start to finish. The addition of surprise guest Dave Chappelle was a welcome surprise, and the musical performances were top-notch as well. For viewers around the globe, CNN's New Year's Eve Live special was the perfect way to ring in 2018.
