The episode begins with Schmidt and Cece preparing for his high school reunion, where Cece will debut her new look as an entrepreneur. Schmidt is nervous about seeing his former bullies and trying to impress his old crush, Elizabeth, who will also be attending the reunion. Jess suggests that they wear matching outfits, but Schmidt scoffs at the idea.
Meanwhile, Nick is struggling to find a new job after being fired from his publishing company. Jess suggests that he try a career in sales, but he is hesitant. She then helps him prepare for a job interview as a door-to-door salesman, which doesn't go as planned.
At the reunion, Schmidt and Cece run into his old rival, Benjamin, who is now a successful businessman. Schmidt feels inferior and tries to one-up him by bragging about his Hollywood connections. Meanwhile, Cece meets a former classmate who is now a doctor and feels insecure about her lack of direction.
Jess tries to help Nick land a job in sales by taking him on a ride-along with an experienced salesman named Bob. However, Nick gets carried away and ends up stealing Bob's client. Jess is disappointed in him and tells him to find a job on his own.
Winston runs into an old friend, KC, who challenges him to a prank war. They spend the night trying to outdo each other with their pranks, but it ultimately leads to them holding up a grocery store.
As the night comes to a close, Schmidt sees Elizabeth with Benjamin and feels defeated. Cece tells him that he doesn't have to impress anyone but himself, and they dance together to "Time After Time" by Cyndi Lauper. Jess helps Nick land a job at a bar, and Winston and KC make up after their prank war.
Overall, "Homecoming" is a fun and lighthearted episode that explores the characters' insecurities and relationships. It is a great addition to the season and showcases the comedy and heart of the show.
