Jess may be dealing with a broken heart, but that doesn't stop her from trying to make everyone else's daily lives easier. Nick, on the other hand, is in full mourning mode following the end of his relationship with Reagan. Meanwhile, Cece and Schmidt deal with the ups and downs of married life, as Winston confronts his fears about the future.
In the latest episode of New Girl, entitled "Misery," Jess and Winston team up to help Nick overcome his depression following his break-up with Reagan. Jess is convinced that the best way to cheer Nick up is to take his mind off his problems by doing something fun and exciting. With Winston's help, the pair set out to plan the ultimate adventure day, complete with go-karting and bumper cars.
As Nick begrudgingly agrees to join in on the fun, Cece and Schmidt are dealing with their own set of issues. Cece, who is thriving in her new job as a modeling agent, is feeling the pressure to make her first big sale. Meanwhile, Schmidt is struggling to balance his work life with his role as a stay-at-home dad for their daughter, Ruth.
As the day goes on, Jess and Winston's plans for the ultimate adventure start to unravel. After a series of mishaps and setbacks, the group finds themselves stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire. With tensions rising and everyone feeling frustrated, Jess is forced to confront the fact that her attempts to help Nick may have been misguided.
Back at home, Cece and Schmidt are dealing with their own set of issues. Cece is struggling to close a deal with a difficult client, while Schmidt is trying to keep up with the demands of being a full-time dad. As the two try to juggle their respective responsibilities, they begin to realize that they may need to rely on each other more than ever before.
Meanwhile, Winston is dealing with his own set of fears about the future. As he watches his friends struggle with their relationships and careers, he begins to worry about his own future prospects. With the help of a surprising ally, Winston is able to confront his fears head-on and come to a new understanding of his place in the world.
As the episode comes to a close, Jess and the gang are able to overcome their setbacks and bond over their shared experiences. While they may not have found the answers to all of their problems, they have come to a new understanding of what it means to be there for each other, no matter what.
