In the episode "Menzies" of New Girl season 2, the gang is faced with a series of unusual situations that put them to the test. The episode starts with Jess realizing that her time of the month is out of sync and she is now experiencing symptoms of PMS, which she never had before. When she tries to explain her feelings to the guys, they don't understand and end up mocking her instead.
Meanwhile, Nick is struggling with his new job as a bartender at a gay bar, where he is supposed to create signature cocktails. After he fails to come up with anything original, he starts to doubt his own creativity and ends up getting fired. This is a huge blow to him, and he becomes deeply disillusioned.
At the same time, Schmidt is dealing with the aftermath of sleeping with Cece's roommate, Nadia. He is trying to keep the relationship a secret, but Nadia is not making it easy. She keeps popping up unexpectedly, and Schmidt is feeling trapped and suffocated.
Winston, on the other hand, is still trying to figure out his place in the world. After quitting his job as a basketball coach, he is feeling lost and directionless. He decides to take up a new hobby, and ends up choosing puzzles. However, he soon realizes that the puzzle he has chosen is way too difficult and becomes obsessed with solving it.
As the episode progresses, the gang continues to deal with their respective issues, with Jess trying to stay sane amid her PMS symptoms, Nick trying to find a new job, Schmidt trying to avoid Nadia, and Winston trying to solve his impossible puzzle. To make things worse, a fire alarm goes off in the building, causing chaos and confusion for everyone.
Despite the challenges they face, the gang eventually comes together to help each other out. Jess gets some much-needed support from Cece, who helps her manage her PMS symptoms. Nick eventually finds a new job and regains his confidence as a bartender. Schmidt finally comes clean to Cece about sleeping with Nadia, and Winston gets some encouragement from his friends to keep trying to solve his puzzle.
In the end, the gang is able to overcome their individual struggles and find strength in each other. They learn that sometimes it's okay to rely on their friends for help, and that taking on challenges alone is not always the best approach. The episode ends with the gang sitting on the couch, happy and content, knowing that they have each other's backs no matter what.
