Along the way, they encounter a number of dangers and strange creatures, including a group of sewer-dwelling rats who warn them that a terrible beast known as the Black Friars is on the loose.
As they journey further, Richard begins to piece together more of Door's backstory, and becomes enamored with her. However, their budding romance is threatened when they arrive in Islington and are separated by a group of mysterious figures known as the Angels. They find themselves in a bizarre maze-like structure which they must navigate in order to reunite and continue their journey.
The episode also includes a number of flashbacks which provide crucial information about Door's family history, including her father's betrayal and the reason why she has become a fugitive in London Below.
