In NCIS season 2 episode 18, titled "An Eye for an Eye," the team investigates the murder of a Navy Lieutenant who was killed in his own home. The episode opens with the NCIS team arriving on the scene of the crime, where they find Lieutenant Michael O'Rourke dead in his bedroom, his wife bound and gagged in the closet.
With few leads to go on, the team starts with O'Rourke's wife, who claims to have seen nothing and to have been asleep during the murder. The team discovers that O'Rourke's computer was stolen, and they suspect that it may have contained sensitive information about the Navy that led to his murder.
As the investigation progresses, the team learns that O'Rourke was working on a top-secret project for the Navy, and that several people had access to his computer. They interview everyone who had access to the computer, including O'Rourke's boss and his boss's secretary, a computer technician who was working on the computer the day before the murder, and several other Navy personnel.
Their investigation takes them all the way to Hong Kong, where they discover that the stolen computer is being used to access highly classified Navy data. They race against time to find the thief and bring him to justice before he can leak any more sensitive information.
Meanwhile, the team also deals with personal issues. Gibbs is still struggling with the loss of his wife and daughter in a car accident, and his grief is affecting his work. Kate, on the other hand, finds herself attracted to a suspect in the case, and struggles to balance her personal and professional life.
In the end, the team is able to identify the thief and bring him to justice, but not without some close calls and harrowing moments. Along the way, they learn that justice and revenge are not always the same thing, and that sometimes the line between the two can be blurred.
