The episode starts with Jiraiya, who is still alive, wandering aimlessly through the forest. We then flash back to his youth, where he is seen receiving a mission from the Third Hokage. Jiraiya, who is highly skilled in the art of fighting and espionage, is tasked with training a young boy named Naruto Uzumaki.

Throughout their journey, Jiraiya teaches Naruto the fundamentals of being a ninja, including how to use chakra and the various ninja techniques that are essential for survival. He also teaches him about teamwork and importance of having friends and allies in the field of battle.
Eventually, they arrive at a village that is under attack by the notorious criminal organization, Akatsuki. Jiraiya decides to take them on alone, in order to protect Naruto and the village. He manages to defeat most of the members of the organization, but is ultimately killed by his former student, Nagato, who had joined the organization and turned to the dark side.
