After the intense battle of filling in the seal, Naruto continues with his training to control the chakra of the Nine-Tails, also known as Kurama. However, he cannot ignore his responsibilities as a Leaf Shinobi. He and Yamato are given a new mission to investigate a certain island, referred to as the "Forgotten Island," where they suspect Orochimaru is hiding. An earlier team sent to scout the area was attacked, and since then, there has been no communication from the island.
Upon arriving, Naruto and Yamato notice the island is heavily guarded, with traps set up to prevent anyone from entering or leaving. After infiltrating, they come across a group of people who appear to have lost their memories, referred to as "Lost Shinobi." They explain they were forced to come to the island and have been under Orochimaru's control ever since. Further investigation leads Naruto and Yamato to a research facility where Orochimaru has been experimenting with memory control jutsu. They discover that Orochimaru has been trying to create his own personal army of mind-controlled shinobi.
As Naruto and Yamato attempt to put a stop to Orochimaru's plans, they encounter one of Orochimaru's henchmen, Guren. She possesses a unique ability to control crystal structures, allowing her to create barriers and weapons. Guren was also a victim of Orochimaru's experiments and agrees to help Naruto and Yamato stop Orochimaru's plans.
Together, they infiltrate Orochimaru's hideout, where they find him trying to control the tailed beasts. Orochimaru reveals that he is close to finally obtaining the power he has been seeking all along. Naruto engages Orochimaru in battle, and with the help of Guren and Yamato, they are able to defeat him and put an end to his plans.
As Naruto and Yamato prepare to leave the island, they encounter the Lost Shinobi, who have regained their memories and are now free from Orochimaru's control. They thank Naruto and Yamato for their help and vow to rebuild their lives. Naruto is reflective on the experience, realizing the true cost of war and the importance of preventing such atrocities from happening again.
Overall, The Forgotten Island episode highlights the struggles Naruto faces as a ninja. He is torn between his training to become stronger and fulfilling his duties as a Leaf Shinobi. The episode also showcases the impact of war on innocent people, as Orochimaru's experiments on memory control lead to the loss of many people's identities and lives. The episode's conclusion reinforces the themes of redemption and hope, as the Lost Shinobi's lives are restored by Naruto and his team.
