  • April 18, 1998

In the ninth season of the cult classic show, Mystery Science Theater 3000, fans are treated to another round of hilarious commentary as they watch the crew watch some of the worst B-movies ever created. Season 9 episode 4, "Werewolf," follows the crew as they witness the absolutely ridiculous tale of a werewolf terrorizing a small town.

The episode begins with Joel Robinson and his robot friends being launched into space by mad scientists, Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank, who force them to watch terrible movies as part of a twisted experiment. In this episode, the movie being featured is "Werewolf," a truly terrible movie about a young man named Paul who is bitten by a werewolf while on a trip to Russia.

As they begin to watch the movie, Joel, Tom Servo, and Crow T. Robot immediately recognize the terrible acting and dialogue, and they begin to riff on the movie, offering up hilarious quips and jokes throughout the film. The crew pokes fun at the various absurdities of the plot, including the fact that the werewolf seems to only attack people when they're on the toilet, and the fact that none of the characters seem to care that there's a werewolf on the loose.

Throughout the film, the crew offers up a mix of clever one-liners and silly jokes, all delivered in their trademark sarcastic style. They make fun of everything from the unconvincing werewolf makeup to the terrible acting to the terrible writing. Fans of the show will love the non-stop barrage of jokes and references, including jabs at classic movies like "The Bridge on the River Kwai" and "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory."

As always, the crew's commentary is also filled with clever pop culture references and witty observations. Fans will enjoy the many references to current events and popular culture of the mid-90s, as well as the many nods to classic movies and TV shows from the past.

The episode also features some hilarious sketches and musical numbers, including a parody of the classic "Sesame Street" song "It's Not Easy Being Green" that features Tom Servo as Kermit the Frog. There's also a hilarious sketch in which Joel and the robots perform a song about how awful the movie is.

Overall, "Werewolf" is classic Mystery Science Theater 3000, offering up non-stop laughs and silly humor that fans of the show know and love. While the movie itself is terrible, the crew's commentary is so funny and clever that it becomes an enjoyable experience despite the low quality of the film itself.

If you're a fan of MST3K and you haven't seen this episode yet, it's definitely worth checking out. And if you're new to the show, this episode is a great introduction to the bizarre, irreverent humor that has made Mystery Science Theater 3000 a beloved cult classic for more than three decades.
