Ep 8. Gamera vs. Gaos

In Mystery Science Theater 3000 season 3 episode 8, the gang is back to mocking another classic Japanese monster movie, this time taking on Gamera vs. Gaos. The episode begins with Joel and the bots being mysteriously transported to the year 2047 and finding themselves in a dystopian world ruled by Dr. Forrester and TV's Frank. But never fear, the main event is still the hilarious commentary on the movie itself.
Gamera vs. Gaos is the third film in the Gamera series, and follows the titular turtle as he battles his old foe Gaos, a bat-like creature with laser beams for eyes. Joel, Crow, and Tom Servo are quick to point out the many ridiculous aspects of the movie, such as Gamera inexplicably showing up to help a group of children with their science project, and the fact that Gaos seems to be a little too fixated on attacking power plant smokestacks.
Throughout the episode, the gang's commentary is as sharp and witty as ever. Joel's deadpan delivery and weirdly specific pop culture references make for some great laughs, while Crow and Tom Servo's constant bickering is always entertaining. The jokes come fast and furious, with almost every scene providing fodder for a sharp critique or a hilarious riff on the film's cheesy special effects.
Despite the crew's best efforts to find value in the movie, Gamera vs. Gaos is ultimately a silly and poorly-made monster flick. But that doesn't stop the MST3K gang from having a blast mocking it mercilessly from start to finish.
