Ep 12. Gamera vs. Guiron

In the twelfth episode of the third season of Mystery Science Theater 3000, Joel Robinson and his robot friends Tom Servo and Crow are forced to endure a truly terrible film: Gamera vs. Guiron.

The movie is a classic example of Japanese kaiju (giant monster) cinema, featuring the titular Gamera, a giant turtle who can fly and emit jets of flame from his mouth. In this installment, Gamera takes on Guiron, a creature with a large, razor-sharp knife blade protruding from his head. The two monsters battle it out on a distant planet, where a group of Earth children have somehow managed to find themselves stranded.

As always, Joel and his bots provide hilarious commentary throughout the film, skewering everything from the cringe-worthy special effects to the nonsensical plot. The jokes come fast and furious, with the trio riffing on everything from the cheesy dubbing to the ridiculous costumes.

But as the movie progresses, things start to get even weirder than usual. The children, who seem to have no discernible skills or talents, suddenly become martial arts masters and manage to defeat an entire army of alien soldiers. And then there's the matter of Guiron's head-knife, which turns out to be able to shoot lasers and saw through almost anything.

Despite the absurdity of it all, Joel and his robot pals somehow manage to soldier on, providing witty commentary and keeping the audience laughing even in the face of such cinematic atrocity. In the end, though, even they can't help but feel a little battered and bruised by the experience. But hey, that's just part of the job when you're a space prisoner forced to watch terrible movies all day!

Overall, Mystery Science Theater 3000 season 3 episode 12 is a delightfully absurd and hilarious experience, full of all the cheesy monster fights and over-the-top acting you could possibly want.
