

In Mystery Gorillas, National Geographic Wild brings viewers on an exciting journey along the densely forested mountains of central Africa as host Mireya Mayor attempts to uncover the mysteries surrounding the reclusive apes, the cross river gorillas. The show premiered in 2010 and was one of the channel's most groundbreaking programs.
Mireya Mayor is a renowned anthropologist, author, and wildlife correspondent, who is best known for her expeditions and research on rare and endangered animals across the globe. In Mystery Gorillas, Mayor takes viewers deep into the dense jungles and uncovers the lives of these elusive creatures.
The series starts with Mayor meeting a group of dedicated conservationists in Cameroon's Kagwene Gorilla Sanctuary, an area well-known to be one of the last remaining habitats for the cross river gorilla. She teams up with them and embarks on a difficult journey through the challenging terrain of the sanctuary. Mayor's team includes Dausi, their exceedingly skilled Gorilla tracker, Agbor, the team leader, and Zimbabwean conservationist Elliott Tarumbwa.
