In My Wife and Kids season 2 episode 8, titled "Let Them Eat Pie," the Kyle family prepares for Thanksgiving. As usual, patriarch Michael Kyle takes charge of the preparations and insists on making his famous mac and cheese, while his wife Jay tries to convince him to switch things up and give it a rest. However, when Michael's mother and sister-in-law arrive, they bring their own dishes, including a pie made with marijuana that they mistakenly give to Michael to take to the family gathering.
The episode starts with Michael getting a call from his mother, who tells him that she won't be able to make it to Thanksgiving dinner because of a broken ankle. Michael is disappointed, but he assures his mother that they'll have a great dinner anyway. As he hangs up the phone, Jay suggests that they make a different dish this year, but Michael insists on making his mac and cheese, arguing that it's tradition.
Meanwhile, Jay's sister Claire and her mother are preparing their own dishes to bring to the Kyle household. They're making a pumpkin pie, but Claire adds a special ingredient: marijuana. She thinks it will make the pie taste better and be more popular with the family.
As the family gathers for dinner, Michael is proud of his mac and cheese, but when his mother and sister-in-law arrive with their own dishes, he's disappointed. He starts to get irritated when his mother's dish, a turkey pot pie, is cold and soggy, and his sister-in-law's sweet potato dish isn't to his liking. He takes out his frustration on the family, and they start to argue.
In the midst of the chaos, Claire brings out her special pumpkin pie. Everything seems fine at first, until Michael starts to feel the effects of the marijuana. He becomes paranoid and starts acting strange, and the family starts to notice. Meanwhile, Jay and her mother bond over their shared love of cooking and plan to start a business together making frozen meals.
As Michael's high wears off, he realizes what happened and gets angry at his family for letting him eat the pie. In the end, they all make up and enjoy the rest of their Thanksgiving dinner together.
Overall, "Let Them Eat Pie" is a hilarious and heartwarming episode that showcases the importance of family and tradition. With plenty of laughs and some touching moments, it's a great addition to the My Wife and Kids canon.
