My Three Sons season 1 episode 27 titled "Soap Box Derby" follows the Douglas family as they enter the annual Soap Box Derby race in their town. The episode begins with Steve (the father) and the boys--Mike, Robbie, and Chip--building their soap box car together. Chip, the youngest son, is very excited about the race and cannot wait to participate. However, Robbie, the middle son, is upset because he was supposed to be the one driving their team's car, but Steve decides to have Mike drive instead as he has more experience.
As the race approaches, the boys' neighbor and rival, Eddie Haskell, mocks their car and predicts that they will lose. This causes Chip to become even more determined to win and he spends every spare moment practicing on their driveway.
On race day, the competition is fierce and the Douglas family faces many challenges. First, their car has a malfunction and Mike has to fix it during a pit stop. Then, they have a close call with another team and almost crash. However, the boys and their father work together and manage to stay in the race.
As the race progresses, Robbie realizes that Mike is driving too cautiously and is in danger of losing the race. He decides to take matters into his own hands and starts coaching Mike from the sidelines, telling him to take risks and go faster. This strategy pays off and the Douglas family takes the lead, much to the delight of Chip and the rest of the family.
In the end, the Douglas family wins the Soap Box Derby and Eddie Haskell is forced to admit that he was wrong about them. This episode highlights the importance of teamwork, perseverance, and taking calculated risks in order to achieve success in life. It also shows the value of family and how working together can help overcome any obstacle.
