My Mother the Car is a sitcom that aired on NBC from 1965 to 1966 starring Jerry Van Dyke. The show follows the life of Dave Crabtree, a struggling attorney, who discovers his mother has been reincarnated as a 1928 Porter automobile. Despite the strange nature of his mother's new form, Dave buys the car and proceeds to spend his days driving around with her, solving various problems that come their way, including legal disputes and family issues.

The series begins with Dave discovering the car at a used car lot and hearing his mother's voice coming from the vehicle's radio. After realizing that his mother has been reincarnated as the car, Dave purchases the vehicle on a whim, unknowingly taking on a whole new set of responsibilities and challenges.

Throughout the series, Dave's mother provides him with support and guidance through difficult situations. While Dave initially struggles to come to terms with his mother's new form, he eventually learns to embrace the strange circumstances and accept his mother's new form.

My Mother the Car may seem like a strange and unusual concept for a sitcom, but the show's cast and writing help to make it work. Jerry Van Dyke gives a charming portrayal of Dave, the lovable but hapless attorney, while Ann Sothern provides the perfect voice for the wise-cracking vintage car that is his mother.

The show's comedic writing is also top-notch, with plenty of laughs to be had as Dave and his mother navigate their way through their daily lives. In addition to the show's main cast, My Mother the Car also features appearances from a number of notable guest stars, including Jim Backus, Ruth Buzzi, and Allan Melvin.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics at the time of its airing, My Mother the Car has since become something of a cult classic, known for its offbeat premise and memorable characters. While the show's run was short-lived, it has garnered a devoted following among fans who appreciate its unique brand of humor and whimsy.

Overall, My Mother the Car is a charming and lighthearted sitcom that offers a refreshing break from the typical formulaic shows of its time. While its premise may seem outlandish, the show's clever writing and talented cast help to make it an enjoyable and entertaining experience for viewers of all ages.
