Cheon Song Yi is a famous actress who is well-known for her beauty, talent, and glamorous lifestyle. Despite her success, however, Song Yi feels an overwhelming sense of loneliness and has been struggling to find true love. Little does she know that her new neighbor, Do Min Joon, is actually a 400-year-old alien who has been observing humans on Earth for centuries.
In episode 8 of "My Love From the Star," we see the relationship between Song Yi and Min Joon continue to develop, as they find themselves attracted to one another despite their differences. The episode starts off with Song Yi suddenly feeling ill after drinking some water, and she immediately heads to the hospital. Worried about her, Min Joon decides to follow her to the hospital to make sure she's okay.
As it turns out, Song Yi's illness is caused by a drug that was slipped into her water bottle by her ex-boyfriend, Yoo Se Mi. Se Mi is a former friend of Song Yi's who has secretly been in love with her for years, and is now jealous of her relationship with Min Joon. After finding out that Min Joon is an alien, Se Mi decides to take matters into her own hands and tries to harm Song Yi in various ways.
Meanwhile, Min Joon is struggling to come to terms with his feelings for Song Yi. As an alien, he knows that his relationship with her is impossible in the long run, and he doesn't want to get too attached to her. However, he finds himself drawn to her more and more each day, and starts to realize just how much she means to him.
The episode also features a subplot involving Song Yi's younger brother, who is struggling with his own identity as a gay man in a conservative Korean society. He confides in Min Joon about his struggles, and Min Joon offers him some advice and reassurance. This subplot adds a poignant and realistic touch to the show, and highlights the struggles that many LGBTQ+ individuals face in Korea and elsewhere.
